Corporate report: Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) report: labour market for nurses in the UK

By HM Government

This report examines the recruitment of non-European Economic Area (EEA) nurses at a trust level in the NHS in England. This research was commissioned to add to the evidence base for the MAC’s review of nursing shortages which was published on 24 March 2016.

As part of this research, various analytical techniques were used to evaluate how the demand for non-EEA nurses in the NHS is influenced by factors such as:

  • trust characteristics
  • work place practice
  • demographics
  • local labour market characteristics

This report also includes a number of trusts and health related organisations that were interviewed. The research was carried out by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES).
